Mangaris® Red is manufactured from clear grade tropical hardwood tree species, Red Balau, belonging to the genus ‘Shorea’, native in the Southeast Asian countries, such as Indonesia. It has beautiful vibrant deep reddish color with minor amounts of fine brown lines (ribbon stripes) and much less color variation between the boards. It can also be silver grey patina when allowed to weather.
Mangaris® Red is extremely hard with Janka Hardness 1600lbf (vs Redwood 450lbf), rated extraordinary for being highly resistant against rot and decay as well as resistant to shrinking, splintering and checking. The manufacturer offers 20 years structural warranty by manufacturer – contact the manufacturer directly for details. And additionally, it is classified as class ‘A’ fire rating, the same rating given to concrete and steel, meaning it is highly resistant to fire too.
Mangaris® Red comes from well managed permanent forests that are replanted in a program of sustainable agriculture. This program is overseen, coordinated, and supervised by the Forestry Department of the Indonesian Government. Plantation-grown hardwood is one of Indonesia’s major and long term industries.
